Lord Ganesha among the various powerful Hindu Gods is said to be the god of prosperity and wealth, also known as the name Vighnaharta. Vighna means, Obstacles, hindrances, or problems, and Hartha means the one who takes away. So Vighnaharta means the power that takes away the obstacles. It means Ganesha helps us to come over all the challenges thrown by life.
The mooshak represents sukshma buddhi or subtle intellect. Ganapathy represents the spiritual seeker. It is when one becomes a master of the subtle intellect that one attains success in sadhana. Therefore, Ganapathy is seen riding on a mooshak as a vahana.
